Manali
is the gateway to numerous trekking routes in the adjacent alpine
valleys of Kinnaur, Chamba and Kangra and the high altitude desert
terrain of Lahaul, Spiti and Ladakh. It is also an ideal place for
a quiet, relaxed holiday. Manali also offers a range of other
adventure activities. For instance, the region has a number of peaks
above 19,000ft giving the mountaineer extreme challenges. Opportunities
for rock climbing also offer the climber easy and tough rock faces
to experience. There's river rafting on the Rivers Beas Sutlej and
Zanskar with their medium and tough white water rapids. For adventure
in the skies there's paragliding in the nearby take-off points of
Solang Valley, Murhee and Naggar; and in winter the breathtaking
nearby snow slopes of Solang Valley offer the skier a thrilling
time. There are also inspiring trails for mountain cycling, gentle
meadows for camping and innumerable streams and rivers for Trout
and Mahseer fishing.
