Like Hercules, they meet Nereus, the symbol of the higher self, and, later on in theHercules, 71:it will be found that the Master works just as Nereus did. The reasons that Nereus, the Master, is elusive and gives but aHercules, 72:a disciple before he had even learned to know Nereus as the symbol of his own higher self.
